Accounts Payable job in Cape Town within the travel industry.  This is a hands-on accounts role covering supplier statement reconciliations, creditor queries, payment preparation and Tourplan accounts, with a clear path into a broader Business Accounts position.

Have 3–4 years’ hands-on Accounts Payable or Creditors experience within the travel and tourism industry, with confident knowledge of Tourplan’s accounting functions? Our client is an established travel business working closely with lodges, hotels and other tourism suppliers. With a strong focus on accuracy and reliable supplier relationships, they rely on well-run finance processes to keep bookings and payments aligned.
  
They are now seeking an Accounts Payable / Creditors Specialist to become a key support to the Director for the accounts and administrative side of the office. The role will begin with a focus on Accounts Payable, alongside some Accounts Receivable, and is designed to develop into a broader Business Accounts position as responsibilities grow.
  
  
▌ The Role
  
In this role, you will take ownership of the accounts payable function, ensuring supplier payments are accurate, on time and correctly matched to bookings, with full support from the Director you report to.
  
– Complete supplier statement reconciliations
– Resolve creditor queries and follow up with suppliers
– Prepare payments, including prepayments and deposits
– Process foreign currency payments
– Match supplier payments to bookings
– Use Tourplan creditor and accounting functions day to day
– Carry out month-end reconciliations
– Maintain supplier accounts and supporting documentation
– Work closely with Reservations to resolve booking and payment discrepancies
– Identify and escalate discrepancies or irregularities
– Support general accounts administration alongside Accounts Receivable
  
  
▌ Experience Required
  
– Approximately 3–4 years’ experience in a similar Accounts Payable / Creditors role
– Hands-on Tourplan accounts / financials experience (essential)
– Tourism industry accounting experience, with an understanding of tourism booking flows
– Experience reconciling supplier statements and checking payments against bookings
– Experience with foreign currency payments, prepayments and deposits
– Experience working with lodges, hotels and other tourism suppliers
– Able to work independently with minimal supervision
– Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
– Xero experience is advantageous
