At least 50% of our placements come from candidates who were not actively looking for a new job but were approached due to their fantastic LinkedIn profile. These are known as passive candidates—people who are not actively seeking a new role.
Recruiters use tools like LinkedIn Recruiter to search for individuals who have the skills and experience that match an employer’s needs. We look for specific skills, job titles, and professional profiles. If your LinkedIn profile isn’t up to date or compelling, you could be missing out on a great career opportunity.
Be Open to a New Job Opportunity
Most people will consider a move if the right opportunity arises. Even if you are reasonably happy in your job, wouldn’t you consider a move if a great new opportunity landed in your inbox?
We recommend checking your LinkedIn profile regularly and updating it when you gain new skills or experiences. Make sure your current job is described clearly, with a straightforward job title that is easy to understand.
In any business setting, it’s good to stay open to new opportunities. While it can be easy to get comfortable in a role, ask yourself if it’s pushing you toward your 5- or 10-year career plan. It’s also a good idea to write a career plan—outline where you want to go and how you plan to get there. While your path may change, it’s helpful to have a direction.
For recruiters, a successful hiring strategy includes both passive and active candidates. We also build a passive candidate pipeline, so make sure you’re open to offers—you never know where they could lead. And if we contact you, be sure to respond!
